Dannevirke, New Zealand — The man who lost his life in Friday morning’s two-vehicle crash on State Highway 2 near Matamau has been identified as Toby Broomhall, a respected Construction Projects NZ Division Manager and well-regarded member of the Taranaki community.
The crash, involving a truck and a car, occurred shortly before 9:50 a.m. near Okane Road between Dannevirke and Norsewood. Emergency services, including Fire and Emergency NZ, Hato Hone St John, and police, responded immediately. Despite swift efforts from first responders, Broomhall died at the scene.
Second Person Seriously Injured
Police confirmed that another individual sustained serious injuries. The patient received on-scene treatment before being airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital. Additional responding teams were later stood down as the situation was brought under control.
