Man Found Fatally Injured as Police Close Maxwell Street in Baillieston
Glasgow — A major police response has been launched in Baillieston after a man was found injured on Maxwell Street on Friday evening, prompting officers to close the road and urge the public to avoid the area.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Friday, 5 December 2025, after the man was discovered near the junction of Whirlow Road and Main Street.
Police Scotland confirmed that Maxwell Street remains closed between Whirlow Road and Main Street as officers, paramedics, and specialist units continue to work at the scene.

“Maxwell Street is closed at the junction of Whirlow Road and Main Street in Baillieston after a man was found injured around 5.50pm on Friday, December 5, 2025. Emergency services are in attendance, and the public is asked to avoid the area.”
Large Emergency Presence
Witnesses reported a significant emergency response, with multiple ambulances, including up to five vehicles, attending the scene. An emergency doctor was also dispatched, and forensic officers were observed arriving shortly after.
A white sheet was seen placed over the body near Diamond’s Kitchen, as emergency workers moved through the cordoned-off area. Additional medical units were spotted travelling up the street near Costa, underscoring the scale of the response.

Police have requested that drivers and pedestrians steer clear of Maxwell Street while enquiries continue. Traffic diversions are in place, and delays are expected throughout the evening.
